Shimmering Trails

MOIST was the prompt for a group show that I was a part of last summer. At first, my sketches were all water-themed - ocean, puddle, rain, etc. But, as I walked through our backyard, I saw a shiny trail of snail slime on an old piece of wood we had leaning on our fence. I took a photo and instantly got to work in my sketchbook, trying to figure out how to include a snail trail into an illustration. It ended up becoming a story on paper, a large mixed-media piece featuring a little snail exploring a magical forest. A partner piece called Mr. Boulder Was Not Pleased was created.
