Comics

Well, Hello There!

This is a short comic I drew to introduce myself to my cohort at CCA. I experimented with a risograph-like look and a shoujo manga blue ink style.

Tikbalang was a fun little comic based on some minimal childhood trauma. (Haha.) My uncle would scare me to get me to behave or listen.

The mythological Filipino creature, the Tikbalang, was commonly used to get me into the house when it got close to sundown.

Now that I find cryptozoology and Filipino mythology absolutely fascinating, it’s fun to look back at these memories and laugh.

This comic was published in Mahalaya SF’s October Issue in 2022.

School Daze 1998

This is brimming with nostalgia for me. I remember those warm summer afternoons when I would wait to be picked up from school. I would sit on the planter where a large plumeria tree grew, listening to the coos of the zebra doves. I never was a social butterfly and enjoyed my alone time, so these quiet, contemplative moments are cherished.

This was published in Electric Squeak Issue 2 (Summer 2022).
